Piercings & Tattoos??

Well, Hello! Good Morning to you. I had a crazy day yesterday that started out like any normal day and ended with a CT of my brain.

Before I go down that rabbit trail, let's talk about piercings and tattoos. I, myself, have no problems with tattoos or piercings as I have a few. I find them to be an excellent form of self-expression and artistry. I know they aren't for everyone. If you decide to hire me as your wedding officiant, you can tell me if you would rather not see them on your wedding day. I will do what I have to to keep them concealed.

My tattoos have an incredible amount of meaning behind them. In palmistry, your left hand represents your family and your right hand represents yourself. I used that guideline for the placement of my tattoos.

The first tattoo I got is the size of my hand and is on my left shoulder. It is a beat-up, broken heart and it has a banner ribbon across it that reads "Mama Forever." I got it after we lost our Mekhi, our foster son, after 2-1/2 years in our care. He is incorporated into the tattoo in the form of three green hearts as the green used is his birthday color.

My second tattoo is a unique take on the traditional Pisces symbol as that is my Sun Sign. It is almost a half sleeve on my right arm and it is of two colorful Pirahnas swimming in very dark, turbulent water. This design has much deeper symbolism for me that the {somewhat} obvious representation of Pisces. The dark, turbulent waters represent my struggles in life up to the time of getting the tattoo. It (the tattoo) is technically incomplete because a few of the waves aren't colored in. I left it this way, though, because I felt it left room for a brighter outcome to the waters I might swim through in the future. The Pirahnas are much more colorful than any real species. To me, they symbolize my colorful personailty and my ability to have hope in the future, even during the darkest hours. The design struck such a deep chord with me that after I found the design, I was woken very early one morning with a poem in my head. {I'll revise this post later to include the poem. I just have to track it down first.}

As for piercings, they're pretty normal. I have the standard ear pierce and my nose is pierced. Even the nose piercing has some symbolism to it, which seems crazy I'm sure, but I researched the placement of nose piercings in Indian culture and found that the left side was for fertility. As a woman dealing with infertility, I naturally chose to pierce the side representing the opposite.

Brides and grooms with tattoos can be just as refined as non-inked newlyweds, as you can see from the above pictures. You can show it all over cover up with some of the most on-trend lacy bridal gowns on the market. You can even cover up temporarily with Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Concealer. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and on your wedding day you should be YOU.

Now back to the rabbit trail:

I have gotten migraines since 5th grade. I have always gotten massive pain in my head with sensitivity to light, sound, and motion. Yesterday, I met friends at the zoo with the kids and after looking at the zebras, I started having strange issues with my vision. I thought it was an optical illusion from looking at the zebra stripes but when it went on for 15 minutes, I knew something was wrong. Herr Winter also has migraines but he has always gotten auras with his. I described what I was seeing and he said it sounded like a migraine. He was really concerned and thought he needed to pick us up and take me to the ER. As a precaution, I went to urgent care. Because it sounded like a change with my headache, they suggested a CT. All checked out fine but I think I went to bed at 7PM. Feeling better this morning and hoping that was just a one-time occurence.
